Central Coast (SLO County)

Pismo Pier
Long municipal pier. Famous walleye perch run in winter. Halibut spring through summer. Leopard sharks + bat rays after dark.
Santa Barbara Channel
The home water. Saltwater core with deep kelp lines, hard-bottom structure, and consistent halibut + calico + white seabass + yellowtail rotation.
Refugio
Kelp-line halibut + barred sand bass on mid-flood. Calico structure tight to the cobble. White seabass on grunion-run nights in spring.
El Capitan
Same Channel water as Refugio, quieter crowd. Halibut on sand-pocket flats, calico in the structure, white seabass on spring grunion nights.
Gaviota Pier
West end of the Channel. Wind-shelter pier fishable when open coast blows out. Halibut, white seabass, mackerel, bonito.
Hendry's Beach (Arroyo Burro)
Small cove on the west end of Santa Barbara. Halibut on the sand outside, surfperch on the cobble, corbina in summer, leopard shark after dark.
Goleta Pier
Long county-park pier reaching productive halibut depth. Year-round perch + corbina. Goleta Slough mouth adds estuary-influence variable.
Carpinteria Salt Marsh
Critical halibut nursery. Leopard shark + bat ray on the flood. Catch-and-release strongly recommended.
Ventura coast
From Faria to Channel Islands Harbor. Pier, cobble surf, roadside boulder access, gateway to the islands.
Faria + Mussel Shoals
Cobble + boulder stretches between Ventura and Rincon. Surfperch year-round, halibut on sand pockets, calico on boulder structure when surf is small.
Ventura Pier
Long municipal pier. Halibut on sand outside surf line, perch + corbina year-round, white seabass on grunion nights, leopard sharks after dark.
Channel Islands Harbor
Sportfishing gateway to Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel. Inside-harbor halibut + calico + perch + summer bonito at the mouth.
